(Before & After #128)
Jewelry soldering is a metalworking process used to join two or more metal pieces together permanently. It involves heating the metal to its melting point and applying a small amount of filler metal, called solder, to the joint.
It is an important skill in jewelry making and is used in a variety of applications, including repairing broken rings and even creating new pieces, for example, combining an engagement ring and wedding band into one. This process can also be reversed, which is the process of unsoldering jewelry.

Laser Welding
In our repair process, our laser welder is commonly used to repair delicate pieces and to create fine, precise joints. The small size of the laser beam also makes it ideal for welding in tight spaces and for working with small components. Laser welding requires specialized equipment and training and fortunately, this is the type of skill that our jewelers have.

"Soldering is defined as the process of joining two pieces of metal together using heat and a filler metal alloy called solder. When it cools down, the solder becomes a strong, yet durable joint. Soldering is the process to repair these breaks in jewelry, such as a cut ring or a broken necklace chain.

"There are several types of solders available for jewelry making, including soft solders, which have a lower melting point, and hard solders, which have a higher melting point. There are also other specific types such as silver soldering, which uses an alloy containing silver, and brazing, which includes a brass alloy.
The choice of solder will depend on the type of metal being used, the desired strength of the joint, and the intended use of the piece.
