In this feature, we’re taking a closer look at a white gold heart-shaped gemstone pendant that arrived at our facility with a request from the customer to transform its style and fit. Originally worn on a matching white gold wheat chain, the owner envisioned a modern update: converting the pendant attachment so it could seamlessly pair with a bold yellow gold paperclip chain.
Over time, styling preferences evolve, and off-the-shelf jewelry settings don’t always accommodate new chain profiles. In this case, the original bail and attachment loop were too small to fit the larger links of a paperclip chain, requiring custom jeweler modifications to achieve the desired contrast and fit.
With clear direction from the customer, our Master Jewelers proceeded with a precise, custom redesign to bridge the two styles seamlessly.
The Details of This Pendant Conversion Service
For this custom gemstone pendant transformation, our team performed the following steps:
- Comprehensive Inspection & Measurement: Our Master Jewelers carefully inspected the white gold gemstone heart pendant, measuring both the original attachment dimensions and the link size of the incoming yellow gold paperclip chain.
- Bail Removal & Custom Attachment Fabrication: The original narrow attachment ring was carefully modified. Jewelers crafted and securely attached a new, larger custom white gold bail designed specifically to clear the width of the new paperclip chain links.
- Gemstone & Metal Safety Check: Prior to soldering and refinishing, the heart gemstone was inspected and protected to ensure heat safety and structural security during metalwork.
- Chain Assembly & Refinishing: The modified pendant was fitted onto the new yellow gold paperclip chain. Both components received a light polish and ultrasonic cleaning to maximize brilliance.
And voilà! With its custom-built attachment ring and two-tone pairing, this white gold gemstone heart pendant is transformed into a modern, personalized statement piece ready to be worn daily.
