A Half Shank Replacement
On this edition of the Before & After series, we have a Men’s Sterling Silver and Diamond Ring with a very thin shank.
With a stronger shank, rings are able to resist breakage a lot better, but with this ring was prone to damage with the back of its shank being less than 0.50mm thick and 2.0mm wide when it arrived at our facility.
The owner of the ring requested to have some premier ring restoration services done to get this shank replaced and we can see why!
For this ring repair process, we had to:
- Remove the thinned out shank at the back of the ring
- Replace the shank with a new section that was 1.0mm thick and 3.0mm wide
- Finished off with a Rhodium Clean & Polish
The result is a restored, stronger ring that looks brand new! It’s actually common for rings such as this to have a bit of natural wear and tear, so getting your jewelry regularly serviced can lead to drastic results.
