Types of Watch Movements Repair Services
Many folks consider a watch’s movement to be the beating heart of a watch, a complicated entity making it operate.
There are many types of watch movement mechanisms, and we have built out our teams, environments, and processes to handle them.
Manual Winding Movement Services
Mechanical watches (hand-wound movements) are the oldest type of watch movement ever made. Manual winding movements, unlike quartz, are powered by winding a spring inside the movement. No battery necessary. The watch spring releases energy as it unwinds that is then transferred through the rest of the watch.

Automatic Movement Services
Automatic watches wind themselves while worn on the wrist. The one drawback is that if you don’t wear an automatic watch for a prolonged period of time, the watch might need servicing.

Quartz Movement Services
Quartz movements are battery-powered. No winding is ever required, even if you don’t wear the watch for some time. Quartz watches are also more accurate in comparison to mechanical timepieces. Typically, quartz movement batteries will last between 12 to 24 months.

Cracked Your Watch’s Crystal?
You May Need Watch Movement Servicing With a Cracked Crystal
In some cases, when a watch crystal is shattered, it is important to check on the watch movement since microscopic glass or sapphire particles can get into the movement causing damage. This can cause the need for watch movement servicing, and potentially replacement of movement parts.

Most new watches come with a 2 year warranty as long as you keep the recommended servicing at specific intervals set by the manufacturer. But warranty’s rarely cover unforeseen accidents or negligence…
Out-Of-Warranty Information
Manufacturer Warranties rarely cover:
- Damage / scratches to watch finish (case, crystal, bracelet, strap or other components)
- Damage caused by failure to comply with parameters of maintenance schedule
- Moisture damage (applicable to non-water resistant watches)
- Damage brought about by misuse, accident, or tampering
- Damage caused by third party repairs
- Accidental damage
We do vintage watch restoration, mechanical and automatic movement repair, quartz movement replacement, and much more!
This will depend on the kind of watch repair service you will need. A simple battery replacement can be processed by our Certified Watchmakers under a week. A movement overhaul on the other hand can be very variable, and is subject to availability of parts.
